An IMU is an electronic device that measures and reports velocity, orientation, and gravitational forces. At Siggraph 2015 Epson’s David Garber demonstrates some interesting functions of their v340 IMU tech. Announced in late 2013 it’s considered to be the world’s smallest IMU. This device is also incorporated into their new Moverio BT-2000 Smart Glasses.
Other IMU Uses include:
Vibration damping of cameras, antennas and other stabilizing systems. Attitude control of drones, unmanned aircraft and unmanned systems underwater, and ground vehicles. Measurement and control of vibration and attitude of industrial machinery and equipment. Body motion sensing in fields such as medical and rehabilitation.
